Carving the white owl
This shows the first step in setting up this simple design for an owl, then the 4 views of the finished carving work after smoothing, and finally the finishing. The outlines can be downloaded for you to make your own
The basic shape has be cut out and the first rough shaping to define the piece

Finishing
The first stage it smoothing. This was done with Abranet sanding pads starting with 200 grit, progressively moving up to 800 grit.
The base was stained with Littlefair’s Interior Wood Dye, Black Ebony x 2 coats.
The owl was coloured white using is Rustins Water Based Wood Dye.
